Product Description

PURITY™ FG is a premium food-grade heat transfer fluid engineered specifically for food processing, pharmaceutical, and beverage manufacturing operations where incidental food contact may occur. Manufactured by Petro-Canada, this NSF HT-1 registered fluid starts with 99.9% pure base oils produced using a patented HT purity process—crystal-clear fluids free of impurities that can hinder performance or compromise food safety. Fortified with specially selected additives developed through more than 25 years of formulating expertise, PURITY™ FG delivers outstanding resistance to both thermal and oxidative degradation, maintaining its autoignition temperature throughout 56-day thermal stability testing at 316°C—three times longer than leading specialty fluids and more than 20% longer than major synthetic competitors. Operating continuously at bulk temperatures up to 326°C (620°F), this fluid provides high thermal efficiency while meeting the most stringent food safety standards, including FDA 21 CFR 178.3570 compliance, USDA H1 acceptance, CFIA approval, and Kosher/Pareve certification.
- NSF HT-1 Food Grade Registered: Meets the highest industry purity standards for incidental food contact; fully approved for use in and around food processing areas.
- Superior Thermal Stability: Maintains autoignition temperature throughout extended thermal stress testing—outperforming both paraffinic and PAO synthetic competitive fluids.
- Outstanding Oxidation Resistance: Significantly stronger resistance to oxidative breakdown than leading food-grade fluids, extending service life in systems with unavoidable air exposure.
- HACCP & GMP Compatible: Fits seamlessly into Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point and Good Manufacturing Practice food safety programs.

Note: While PURITY™ FG is highly resistant to oxidative breakdown, excessive air and water contamination can still reduce thermal efficiency and shorten fluid life over time. Where practical, inert gas blanketing of the expansion tank is recommended to guard against prolonged air and moisture exposure and maximize fluid service life. To ensure optimal system efficiency and fluid longevity, Petro-Canada recommends thorough system flushing with PURITY™ FG WO white mineral oil (for food processing applications) prior to charging with fresh PURITY™ FG—particularly when converting from other fluid types or when residual contamination is present. Avoid operating conditions that can accelerate fluid degradation, including thermal shocking from rapid temperature increases, hot spots on heating coils, and continuous operation above the maximum recommended bulk temperature. Annual fluid analysis is recommended to monitor fluid condition. PURITY™ FG’s low vapor pressure minimizes leakage from control valves and pipe flanges, and its natural lubricating properties help extend the service life of circulating pumps and rotating equipment. The fluid is virtually odorless and non-hazardous, requiring no special handling permits for shipment or storage. For systems requiring flushing in food processing environments, use only NSF HT-1 registered flushing fluids to maintain food-grade compliance throughout the maintenance process.
