Product Description

PETRO-THERM™ is a premium mineral oil-based heat transfer fluid engineered for non-pressurized, liquid-phase closed-loop systems operating at bulk fluid temperatures up to 315°C (599°F). Manufactured from highly refined, 99.9% pure base oils using HT purity processing technology, this thermal fluid delivers exceptional clarity (color <0.5 ASTM D1500), low carbon residue (0.03 wt%), and outstanding resistance to oxidative and thermal degradation. The carefully balanced formulation provides excellent thermal efficiency across a wide operating range while maintaining low vapor pressure to prevent system pressurization and reduce fluid losses. PETRO-THERM™ offers an economical alternative to synthetic and aromatic heat transfer fluids without compromising performance or service life. Not classified as toxic under OSHA, WHMIS, or DPD criteria, this fluid provides a safer working environment compared to many chemical-based alternatives. For systems requiring cold-weather startup capability, PETRO-THERM™ PPD offers enhanced low-temperature performance with a pour point of -39°C (-38°F).
- High-Temperature Performance: Operates reliably at bulk fluid temperatures up to 315°C (599°F) with maximum film temperatures to 340°C (644°F).
- Exceptional Purity: Manufactured from 99.9% pure base oils with color <0.5 and carbon residue of only 0.03 wt% for clean, deposit-free operation.
- Extended Fluid Life: Superior oxidation and thermal stability minimizes degradation, sludge formation, and fluid makeup requirements.
- Low Vapor Pressure: Negligible vapor pressure at operating temperatures prevents system pressurization and reduces fluid losses.
- Superior Oxidation Resistance: Patented additive technology provides significantly better protection against oxidative breakdown than leading competitive fluids, extending fluid life in systems with air exposure.
- Ultra-Pure Base Oils: 99.9% pure HT hydrocracked base fluids, free of impurities that can accelerate degradation or reduce thermal efficiency.
- Clean System Operation: Resists carbon residue and sludge formation, maintaining heat exchanger efficiency and minimizing costly deposit-related maintenance.
- Non-Hazardous & Workplace-Safe: Virtually odorless, non-toxic, and not classified as hazardous under OSHA or WHMIS regulations—no special handling permits required.

Note: PETRO-THERM™ is designed for closed-loop, non-pressurized, liquid-phase heat transfer systems only. Do not use in open systems without consulting technical support. Monitor fluid condition regularly—the rate of change in physical characteristics (viscosity, acidity, flash point, insolubles) is more significant than absolute values. Actual service life depends on system design, operating temperatures, and maintenance practices. For cold-weather applications requiring startup below -18°C (0°F), specify PETRO-THERM™ PPD with pour point depressant. This fluid is combustible; keep away from heat sources, sparks, and open flames. Used fluid may be recycled through authorized collection points or, where permitted, used in BTU recovery systems. Consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for complete hazard information, exposure limits, first aid measures, and handling precautions. PETRO-THERM™ is a trademark used under license.
